1st September 2014: Giles Waterhouse has been appointed by Marine Results to coordinate the company’s rapidly expanding superyacht Non Destructive Testing (NDT) division. The senior appointment follows a period of rapid growth and significant investment by Marine Results to expand their rig, hull and composite testing capabilities both at their Hamble, UK base and on site around the world.
As Division Manager, Giles will head up the inspection of marine composite structures including hulls, rigs, and appendages on some of the world’s largest leisure yachts and most competitive grand prix yachts, using advanced aerospace technology to detect internal flaws and cracks not visible to the naked eye.
Giles brings many years of experience in the superyacht and high-end racing industry to his role. He is qualified to Level 2 in Ultrasonics.
The appointment reflects the increasing activity of Marine Results, which has enjoyed a particularly significant expansion in the area of NDT inspections and testing. Giles is currently leading the NDT inspections of a number of large scale superyacht and grand prix testing projects being undertaken by Marine Results in Europe and Asia. These include pre-launch surveys on the new Volvo 65s which are being prepared for the forthcoming Volvo Ocean Race and mast inspections for Oyster Yachts, to name just a few of the many projects.
Within the same division Marine Results also carries out Destructive Testing as well as NDT, testing breaking strains on structures and running rigging, to calculate safe working loads.
