Starry Night gets Marine Results service

Marine Results helped with preparing the Oyster 82 Starry Night for the Palma Oyster regatta which took place in late September. Starry Night had already put some miles underneath her this season – she competed in Antigua Sailing Week and then went to Cowes for the Round the Island Race and summer Oyster regatta there.

Starry Night’s racing skipper Campbell Field decided that the rig should be inspected after such a heavy programme and was aware of some issues that needed checking out. The Marine Results team arranged the rods from the rig sent to be sent to Hamble headquarters for cleaning and inspection. They also assessed the inmast furler, giving some remedial attention to the headstay pin top and bottom. The team carried out NDT testing on all standard rigging as well as the inmast furler, identifying some faults that required essential repair work.

The work was carried out on the two year old yacht at Berthon in Lymington with a combination of Marine Results’ own and Berthon’s personnel working together to pull the mast out. The masthead spinnaker crane was cut and rewelded. “We worked to a very tight time frame to ensure that the yacht was back in the water to carry out sailing trials, before she left the UK,” commented Director Ed Danby, after the works were complete in early August.
