From 27,000 miles of ocean racing to a full post-race overhaul, Marine Results has supported Maiden at every stage.
Maiden is a yacht with a legacy unlike any other, and a powerful symbol of determination, equality and world-class offshore performance. For the 2023–24 Ocean Globe Race, Marine Results was proud to play a central role in preparing her for this extraordinary, global challenge.
OGR Preparation – Full Rig Programme
Ahead of the race, Maiden underwent an extensive technical refit to bring her rig and systems to offshore-ready condition. Working closely with long-term rigging supplier OYS, our team delivered a comprehensive programme including:
• Complete rig removal and refit
• Mast stepping and unstepping throughout the preparation period
• Detailed structural inspection (dye-penetrant + ultrasound NDT)
• Servicing, repair and optimisation of rig hardware
• Supply and installation of a new boom
• Supply of a new spinnaker pole
• Final rig tune and race setup
Every component was inspected, serviced and tuned for performance, longevity and reliability.

Supporting the Crew Behind the Scenes
A circumnavigation of this scale demands a crew capable of maintaining their own rig at sea. Marine Results provided:
• Ropework and splicing training
• Rig maintenance briefings
• Practical pre-race support
• Technical standby assistance throughout the campaign
This hands-on partnership helped equip Maiden’s all-female crew with the skills and confidence needed for global ocean racing.
A Historic Victory
On 16 April 2024, Maiden crossed the finish line off Cowes after an over ~27,000nm circumnavigation. Forty-eight hours later it was confirmed that she had won the Ocean Globe Race overall, securing a series of groundbreaking firsts:
• First all-female crew to win a round-the-world race
• First female British skipper to win a round-the-world race
• First fully crewed British boat to win a round-the-world race
• First Black women to race around the world
• First Afghan woman to race around the world
A landmark achievement for offshore sailing, and one we are proud to have supported.
Post-Race Overhaul
Following her circumnavigation, Maiden returned to us for a full post-race rig inspection and servicing programme. This included:
• Detailed post-race rig check
• Assessment of component wear after thousands of miles at sea
• Servicing of key hardware
• Recommendations for future care and longevity
Even in retirement from ocean racing, Maiden continues to inspire – and we remain proud to help keep her at her best.
