Marine Results has continued its support and official role of Rigging Partner to Alan Roberts for his Figaro campaign, which will include the single handed 2018 Solitaire de Figaro. This will be Alan’s fourth time participating in the challenging month long race of four legs that covers around 2000 miles at sea around the Southern English and northern French coastlines.
Marine Results know they are on to a winner. Alan has just completed the Solo Concarneau Trophée Guy Cotton at the beginning of April in third place, the best British Result and his own person best in four years on the circuit. He was only five minutes behind race winner Antony Marchand and 30 seconds behind Alexis Loison.
“I’m very excited to be working again with Marine Results and all my other sponsors,” comments Alan. “They have been fantastic and integral to the campaign. With Marine Results taking care of my running rigging and surveying and testing the rigging and mast it gives me complete confidence to take on the 2018 season.” The company has also provided Alan with a van and trailer.
He adds “My goals for 2018 are to continue to gather experience racing offshore, building up the miles and time on the water. I know I can achieve top results in the Figaro class and am looking to push hard in this last year of the Figaro 2 before the change over to the Figaro 3.”
Following his success in the Solo Concarneau Alan is on track to achieve his goals. “I would like to be pushing in to the top ten this year,” says Alan. I know I am more than capable of doing this. My focuses are to improve my boat speed during reaching and at sail change-overs.”
Alan will be taking part in three more 2018 Figaro Single handed events before going onto the main event, the Solitaire du Figaro 26th August – 16th September.
Jon Morris of Marine Results says “We are proud to be extending our support for Alan, who is from Southampton close to our head office. Alan is continuing to build his experience in short-handed offshore racing as well as repeatedly stealing the scene at national dinghy level. We’ll be doing some more rope work for him during the season and helping him tune up the Figaro yacht before he starts the race in June 2018.”
